The Neverdark Mosswood is a modular freestanding fireplace that works as a piece of furniture as much as a fire. A volumetric bioethanol flame sits at its heart — producing the three-dimensional depth of ceramic logs and lava stones — while the shelving module above holds a woodbox with natural logs. It can be set up vertically as a tall bookcase-style unit or horizontally as a lower sideboard format, depending on the space.

The Mosswood is what happens when a fire and a piece of furniture occupy the same object. The volumetric bioethanol burner — with its ceramic logs, lava stones, and three-dimensional flame — sits within a modular steel unit that also serves as shelving, with a woodbox holding natural logs above the fire. It can be set up vertically or horizontally to suit the room.
The Volumetric Flame
The Mosswood uses Neverdark's patented volumetric burner — flames that rise from multiple points through a bed of handmade ceramic logs and lava stones, producing a fire that has genuine depth and movement. The woodbox above the burner holds natural logs for decoration, reinforcing the visual connection to a real wood fire without any of the mess or infrastructure.
Modular Setup
The two-module design can be oriented vertically — burner at the top, woodbox below, with shelving beneath — or rotated to sit horizontally as a lower unit with the fire at one end. The matte black finish is the same in both orientations. The format works particularly well in rooms where a shelf or storage unit would sit naturally against a wall, and the fire arrives as part of the same object.
Control
Refuelling is fully automatic, handled via the integrated push-to-open panel. The touchscreen controls ignition, flame level, and shutdown, with the same functions available through the Neverdark mobile app. A remote control is included.
No Installation Required
The Mosswood is freestanding — no wall fixing, no installation, no structural work. It requires a power connection for the automatic refuelling and control systems. Beyond that, it can be positioned wherever it suits.
