The Iconic is a ceiling-suspended bioethanol fireplace of a scale and ambition that is genuinely rare in the residential market. At 90 cm in diameter, suspended from above with the flame burning at its centre and visible in 360 degrees, it is not simply a fireplace — it is the focal point around which a room is arranged. Designed by Icon Fires and available exclusively for indoor ceiling installation, it commands any space it occupies with the kind of quiet authority that only comes from an object that knows exactly what it is.
360° of rotating flame
The Iconic's most distinctive feature is its rotation. The hanging system incorporates a 360° rotation joint at the connection pole, allowing the shell to be turned to any orientation — useful during installation, and a feature that means the flame can always be positioned to face the primary seating area. The 6.5-litre burner produces up to 6.7 kW of heat output with a flame length of 31.5 cm and a burn time of up to 12 hours per fill — enough to run continuously through an entire day and evening on a single charge. No chimney, no flue, and no electrical connection are required.
A hanging system built for any ceiling height
The Iconic ships with a complete hanging system that includes poles in 1000 mm, 500 mm, and 250 mm lengths, plus the compulsory 250 mm connection pole with rotation — allowing the total drop from ceiling to shell to be configured to suit the room height. Additional extension poles in the same sizes are available separately for higher ceilings. The standard ceiling bracket is designed for flat ceilings and fixes into the ceiling structure using six metal fixings. The ceiling mounting surface must be load-bearing and capable of supporting a minimum of 500 kg — professional installation by a competent tradesperson or structural engineer is strongly recommended.
A considered object in black matte steel
The Iconic's shell is fabricated from mild steel with a heat-resistant matte black finish — a material choice that gives the object solidity and visual weight without surface distraction. At 80 kg, it is a substantial piece that communicates its quality immediately. The circular opening in the shell frames the flame cleanly from below, and the flame height is adjusted using a sliding lid handle on the burner. An electric pump is included for safe, no-spill refuelling without removing the burner from the shell.
Installation — what to know before you order
The Iconic requires a minimum room size of 90 m³ and a clear radius of 1 metre to any combustible material in all directions. The ceiling fixing point must be load-bearing structural material — plasterboard alone is not sufficient. A minimum clearance of 100 cm is required from the top of the shell to the ceiling surface, and 100 cm from the bottom of the shell to any combustible item below.
