The Kingston is a freestanding bioethanol grate designed to bring real flames back to an existing fireplace with no installation, no flue connection, and no power required. Where the standard ScandiFlames grate range is built around function, the Kingston is a named design in its own right — a considered piece that balances the character of a traditional fire basket with the clean lines of a contemporary interior. Place it in the hearth, arrange the decorative wooden logs, and the fireplace is ready to use.
A real flame with a distinctive character
The 1.5-litre Premium burner produces up to 2 kW of heat output with a burn time of up to 6 hours per fill, suited to rooms up to 45 m³. The flame is adjustable, allowing the balance between warmth and burn duration to be set to suit the occasion. The decorative wooden logs are arranged on and around the grate frame, framing the flame and giving the installation the warmth and texture of a real wood fire without any of the smoke, soot, or maintenance that comes with it.

The Kingston's proportions — 46 cm high, 32 cm wide, and 29 cm deep — give it a compact but upright presence in the fireplace opening. The black finish and grate-style frame sit naturally within a traditional fireplace surround whilst reading as a considered design choice rather than a purely functional insert. The Kingston is entirely freestanding. Set it in the fireplace opening, arrange the decorative logs, fill the burner, and light with a long-reach lighter. The flame is extinguished by sliding the metal cover plate over the burner opening. No chimney connection is required — bioethanol burns cleanly using the room's ambient air, making it equally suitable for fireplaces with sealed or open flues. No electrical connection is needed at any point.
Clean-burning and easy to maintain
Bioethanol produces no smoke, ash, or soot, so the hearth and surround stay clean between uses. Fill the burner only with the amount of fuel you plan to use in a single session — bioethanol left in an open burner will evaporate over time.
