Bioethanol Fire Grate XL - 80 cm
Some fireplace openings deserve a fire to match. The Fire Grate XL is a freestanding bioethanol grate built for wider, more generous hearths — at 80 cm, it fills a traditional fireplace opening with a long, impressive flame that commands the room. No building work, no chimney connection, and nothing to wire in.
A flame with real presence
The 3.5-litre Superior burner delivers up to 3.3 kW of heat output — capable of warming a room up to around 70 m³ — with a burn time of up to 7.5 hours per fill. The flame runs the width of the burner, creating the kind of expansive, generous fire that a large fireplace opening calls for. Flame height is adjustable, so the balance between warmth and burn duration can be dialled in to suit.
The look of a traditional fire basket
The black steel grate carries the visual character of a classic fire basket — solid, grounded, and at home in both period and contemporary interiors. Six decorative wooden logs are included, arranged on and around the grate to frame the flame naturally. The overall effect is convincingly close to a real log fire, without the smoke, the ash, or the chimney sweep.
Freestanding — no installation needed
The XL grate requires no installation whatsoever. Place it in the fireplace opening, position the decorative logs, fill the burner, and light with a long-reach lighter. The flame is extinguished by sliding the metal cover plate over it. If the existing chimney flue is sealed, this is not a problem — bioethanol burns cleanly using the room's ambient air. No power connection is required at any stage.
Easy to maintain, clean to use
Bioethanol produces no smoke, soot, or ash, keeping the hearth and surround clean between uses. Only fill the burner with the amount of fuel you intend to burn in one session — bioethanol left in an open burner will evaporate over time. The grate is freestanding, so it can be moved or stored outside the heating season.
