A traditional fireplace opening holds a lot of character — and with the right insert, it can hold real flames again. The Fire Grate M is a freestanding bioethanol grate designed to sit directly inside an existing fireplace, instantly transforming a dormant hearth into a clean-burning, living focal point. No installation, no chimney, no fuss.
A real flame that feels at home in a traditional setting
The 1.5-litre Deluxe burner produces a natural, adjustable flame with up to 2.2 kW of heat output — enough warmth to take the chill off a room whilst creating genuine atmosphere. Burn time reaches up to 6 hours per fill, meaning an evening by the fire rarely requires a top-up. The flame size can be adjusted to balance warmth, burn time, and ambience to suit the moment.
Designed to look the part
The black steel grate frame has the visual weight of a traditional fire basket, giving the installation an authentic, considered feel. The included decorative wooden logs are arranged on top of the grate to complete the effect — placed around the burner, they frame the flame in a way that evokes a real wood fire without any of the smoke or ash. The 40 cm width makes this the right choice for smaller or more compact fireplace openings.
Nothing to install — ready in minutes
The grate is entirely freestanding. Place it in the fireplace opening, arrange the decorative logs, fill the burner, and light. No flue connection is required, and no power is needed at any point. The burner is ignited with a long-reach lighter and extinguished by sliding the metal cover plate across the flame. If the existing chimney is sealed, the grate works perfectly — the bioethanol flame requires only the ambient air in the room to burn cleanly.
Clean-burning and straightforward to maintain
Bioethanol burns without producing smoke, soot, or ash, so the fireplace surround stays clean and maintenance is minimal. The burner should be filled only with the amount of fuel you plan to use in a single session — bioethanol evaporates over time if left in an open burner.
